OUR COMMUNITY


The Esc community is a global collective of passionate, active ultra athletes who inspire others to go beyond the usual limit in 9 disciplines on the sea, air, and land. Humans have long felt a deep-seated desire to explore the unknown parts of our planet.

Many genetic analyses tracing our roots back to Africa make it clear that Homo sapiens originated on that continent. In 1492 Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic Ocean. On July 25, 1909, Louis Bleriot, became the first person to fly across the English Channel. And Yuri Gagarin became the first human to journey into outer space, completed one orbit of Earth on 12 April 1961.

Sailing

Whether you sail competitively or not, there’s very little that can beat the sensation of being out on the water, wind filling the sails, harnessing the power of nature and relying on your skills and expertise.

  • Age 4-11: Optimist at a river
  • Age 12-17: Laser at a lake
  • Age 18-24: Kielboot at sea
  • Age 25+: Monohull across Ocean

Mountaineering

Mountaineers face many challenges and hazards when climbing the mountains. It exposes them to deep focus and commitment, in order to achieve their set goal of reaching the peak. 

  • Age 4-11: Scouting
  • Age 12-17: Trail walking
  • Age 18-24: Continental peaks
  • Age 25+: Seven Summits

G-Force

It is designed to prevent a g-induced loss of consciousness (G-LOC), a situation when the action of g-forces moves the blood away from the brain to the extent that consciousness is lost.

  • Age 4-11: Roller coaster
  • Age 12-17: Paragliding
  • Age 18-24: Multi-axis trainer
  • Age 25+: High G trainer

 Rowing

The grace of the sport’s form and movement, the peace of gliding on water, the satisfaction of personal achievement. Rowing is metaphysical, bringing relaxation to both mind and body with each stroke.

  • Age 4-11: Ergometer
  • Age 12-17: Rowing 10 km
  • Age 18-24: Marathon
  • Age 25+: Rowing across Ocean

Cycling

Cycling improves strength, balance and coordination. It may also help to prevent falls and fractures. Mental health conditions such as depression, stress and anxiety can be reduced by regular bike riding.

  • Age 4-11: Cycling 100 km
  • Age 12-17: Cycling 2oo km
  • Age 18-24: Super Randonneur
  • Age 25+: Ultra brevet

Flying

The freedom to travel wherever you wish without restrictions of roads and traffic, the serenity of an early morning flight, the camaraderie of fellow fliers and the feeling of accomplishment.

  • Age 4-11: Flight Simulator
  • Age 12-17: Gliding brevet
  • Age 18-24: RPL
  • Age 25+:  Advanced PPL

Scuba diving

Scuba diving allows you to move freely underwater and makes you feel you are part of the marine life. Hardly having to deal with gravity makes you feel like you’re weightless and flying into the blue.

  • Age 4-11: Zwemvaardigheid 3
  • Age 12-17: Open Water
  • Age 18-24: Advanced Open Water
  • Age 25+:  Master diver

Running

Running can significantly improve physical and mental health. As a form of aerobic exercise, running can reduce stress, improve heart health, and even help alleviate symptoms of depression.

  • Age 4-11: Running 2.5 km
  • Age 12-17: Running 10 km
  • Age 18-24: Marathon
  • Age 25+: Ultra marathon

Sky diving

Adrenaline is known to produce improved strength and performance, as well as heightened senses. Your body also releases endorphins and serotonin during the skydive, known to make you feel happier.

  • Age 4-11: Bungee jumping
  • Age 12-17: Indoor skydiving
  • Age 18-24: Base jumping
  • Age 25+: Wingsuit

The triangle is the strongest shape in nature  

It holds it shape, has a base which is very strong, and also has a strong support. It is strong because the three legs of a triangle define one and only one triangle.
Soldiers are put through some of the most mentally challenging and physically demanding training in the world. It is designed to find and develop humans of the strongest character who give everything they have to accomplish their mission and support the humans on their team. Eventually soldiers have the ability to perform in stressful and often uncomfortable environments on sea, air and land.

Astronauts simulate space training by diving underwater in a Neutral Buoyancy Pool, surviving in extreme conditions from all the elements, and tolerate acceleration above Earth's gravity. They typically spend hours training in simulators for every minute they fly in space so they are familiar with planned activities and can react quickly to unusual events. They rehearse their own decisions, as well as learn the teamwork vital to successfully overcoming a hurdle.
